Most diamond engagement ring shoppers have a firm grasp of two diamond color categories: colorless diamonds and colored diamonds. You may already know that colorless diamonds are transparent stones with plenty of sparkles while colored diamonds come in yellow and black most notably.
There are few things in the world that are better than a perfectly eye clean SI2 clarity diamond. SI2 clarity is typically the lowest clarity grade we will recommend to clients since in most circumstances entering into the included or "I" clarity range means that you WILL be able to easily detect imperfections with your eye without magnification. The SI clarity range still means you need to look closely to pick up on imperfections. However, we find that not all SI2 clarity diamonds are created equally. Majority of SI2 clarity diamonds have obvious imperfections and inclusions that can be seen without trying to see them. A question we get asked often is what color, clarity and cut is the best? The truth is that there is not just one right answer. Not only will the answer be different for every diamond shape, it will also vary based on someone's personal opinion and the way you perceive diamond quality to your eye. The main goal for your diamond is to maximize your budget. Maximizing your budget entails balancing the size, color, cut, clarity, and shape to be the best it can be without over spending. In general we don't believe you should work in extremes by focusing on just one category and over-sacrificing on another. Here are a few tips we suggest for you to aid you in the diamond selection process:
The biggest dilemma that many of our customers face is choosing a diamond shape! Each of the different diamond cuts offer something different and can totally change the look and feel of a ring style. Once you choose the shape it is time to start considering different quality/size combinations that will work best for the cut you have selected and your target price range.
