Introduction To The Basic Engagement Ring Setting Styles
You can add diamonds to the band of any setting so keep this in mind when reading below. A true solitaire style ring features a diamond by itself atop a plain band of any width, color or style. Anytime you add micro pave set diamonds to a classic solitaire, it becomes a pave solitaire setting.
Floating Style Engagement Ring Setting
A floating style setting refers directly to how the ring looks from the aerial and profile view. From the top, all that you see is the diamond with a band in the background. This gives the effect that the stone is actually floating. A floating style setting can feature any number of prongs. Traditionally, you will see designs with 4, 5 if pear, or 6 prongs. This all depends upon the center stone shape and size. For the biggest look out of your stone, go with a floating setting.
Cathedral Style Engagement Ring Setting
The Cathedral style setting features two pieces of metal on either side of the stone that leads down to the band. These pieces are most often referred to as the shoulders. From an aerial view, you will see the shoulders of a cathedral style setting. Many enjoy the extra metal because it feels more substantial. Depending upon the center stone's shape and size, a cathedral style can affect the size appearance, making it look smaller than it is. Diamond Wraps and Diamond Encrusted Prongs
Not to be confused with a halo, a diamond wrap only exists below the stone. It's a single delicate row of diamonds set to mimic the shape of the stone. This detail is only seen from a profile view,(imagine you're sitting across from someone at coffee). Our diamond wraps are handmade like every other setting detail and can sit high or low underneath a setting. You also have the option of the wrap being beneath or on the outside of the prongs.
You can completely encrust your engagement ring prongs with diamonds as well. In the bottom 2 photos, you'll see an example of this look. For a minimal look with extra sparkle, check out the RS-318 setting in the last photo.
Three Row Bands
Most often, an engagement ring features a single row of diamonds set along the band. The three row micro pave band is a completely diamond encrusted design. There are diamonds set on every side of the band which offers maximum sparkle. The three row bands require additional metal to accommodate the extra stones which is why the bands are wider.
Single and Double Edge Halo
When made seamlessly, the halo can maximize any center stone size by half of a carat +. The classic halos only featured diamonds on top but we've upgraded this design! The double edge halo still features the classic halo look from the top but also gives sparkle around the outer edge of the halo. Whether or not your halo has a single or double edge, it will still look completely seamless with zero negative space between the stone and the setting.
Hidden Halo
The Hidden Halo is a new design that's catching everyone's eye. Beneath the stone, there are 2 diamond wraps that join to give extra sparkle from an aerial view. It's just a pop of sparkle from the top and the diamond wrap is most visible from a profile view. This is a truly unique detail which can be incorporated into any setting.
