LB Diamond Difference, Theirs vs Ours: Color & Clarity

Continuing our LB Diamond Difference Series with a focus on two of the most well known "C's" of quality: COLOR & CLARITY.
-

Color refers to how colorless a diamond appears while clarity deals with the purity & amount of inclusions within the stone.

Watch the video above to see the color and clarity differences of two different sets of diamonds.

The #cushioncut comparison shown above here is for color purposes. While both are graded as "J" color by GIA, our diamond on the left has a more colorless appearance face-up. The other stone (typically found online) has a noticeable yellow tint that detracts from its beauty. It’s important to note that a GIA grading report won’t differentiate between the two; you need to view each diamond side by side!
-
Diamonds are graded by humans & there is room for error. Also there are ranges of color within each grade; there are "J' colors that look closer to "I" & others that look worse like a "K".
-
The round #diamonds here are for clarity purposes. The stone on the left is our H color/SI1 while the one on the right is a competitor's with the same grading specs; both have excellent cuts. It might be hard to tell from the photo but if you watch the video you will easily notice how much more brilliant & lively our diamond is. As with clarity, there are different levels within each grade & many different types of inclusions. The "other stone" has so many inclusions that the diamond isn’t transparent causing it to lack sparkle & fire. There is absolutely nothing worse than purchasing a diamond that is milky/hazy like this. A GIA report will not tell you if the SI clarity diamond is milky, or if it has an excellent luster like the stone from our inventory. There are other clarity features to look out for like black inclusions in the center easily seen by the naked eye.
-
Before sourcing any diamonds for our inventory we analyze them for all of the above quality factors to ensure you are getting what it says on the GIA report & more!
