Eye Clean SI2's
There are few things in the world that are better than a perfectly eye clean SI2 clarity diamond. SI2 clarity is typically the lowest clarity grade we will recommend to clients since in most circumstances entering into the included or "I" clarity range means that you WILL be able to easily detect imperfections with your eye without magnification. The SI clarity range still means you need to look closely to pick up on imperfections. However, we find that not all SI2 clarity diamonds are created equally. Majority of SI2 clarity diamonds have obvious imperfections and inclusions that can be seen without trying to see them. In this post we are going to go into detail on a few eye clean SI2 clarity diamonds and give you some insight on to what makes them eye clean. All about Sapphires
Diamonds command the most attention when it comes to engagement jewelry, and rightfully so as traditionally, they embody the rarity and beauty of the bond they're representing. However, as time goes on and generations introduce modern twists and turns to engagement jewelry, you'll notice that colored stones have also begun to make quite the reputation. Most immediately think of a deep blue stone when they think sapphire, which is only appropriate considering the name was derived from the Latin word 'saphirus' which means blue. However, sapphires com in variety of colors and can even have bicolor qualities to them (for those who can't decide!) In this post we will introduce you to this beautiful and special precious gem - May 30, 2017
Diamond Ratio 101
Class is in session! When it comes to diamond engagement ring we have all heard about the 4 C’s. There is another important factor when it comes to fancy shape diamonds that sometimes is forgotten but is equally important. That is the length to width ratio that a diamond has. Surely we all remember proportions and ratio from the math we did in school. When it comes to shopping for diamond it is time to reintroduce this concept but obviously in a more fun way :) In this post we will go over the basics on diamond ratios for the most popular shapes and you can follow along with the video here
LIVE EPISODE #11 Over the Top Part I: Non-Halo/Solitaire Rings
Thanks again for taking the time to read our blog and watch another Lauren B Live Episode which will again focus on custom engagement ring design. On the previous one (which can be watched at your leisure on our Youtube playlist) we went into full detail on the many different styles of bands that can be used for your engagement ring. Equally important is the top portion of your ring- the part closest to the center stone – and this combined with your band is going to dictate the overall style and look of your finished ring. At Lauren B we specialize in custom design from A to Z, meaning you can mix and match any band and top from all rings in our collection to come up with your ideal design. Attention all lovers of Non- halo rings! On today’s post, we are going to explore all the different non-halo options you have for the top of your engagement ring and break them down into different categories so you can really see the differences for yourself. For our purposes, we are going to refer to these as any rings that do not have a halo/perimeter of pave diamonds going around the top surface center-stone. While at first you might think, this is simple and there is only a couple of styles to choose from, if you browse our website or Instagram you will see there are many details you can incorporate here. Food for thought- Quality vs size: which prevails?
At Lauren B, we work closely with countless engagement ring shoppers and one of the most asked question we get is "what do we think is more important in a diamond: the quality of the diamond or the size of the diamond?" I know this may seem very unhelpful but we are going to be the ones to let you know that there is simply no right or wrong answer here. It varies greatly on a case by case basis and most importantly on the people actually buying and wearing the ring! As with many objects in life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but perhaps some of the tips below will help you come to a better final decision when purchasing a diamond for your custom engagement ring. Remember there are always extremes to any comparison, so when opting for a trade-off of bigger size over quality, it is always prudent to toe the line carefully and not overstep the boundaries that would effect the beauty of the diamond to the observer. Top Unique Lauren B Proposal Ideas
March 20th may be National Proposal Day, but December is the most popular time of the month to be proposed to and I think we all know why. Though people have been proposing historically for quite some time, the history of the diamond engagement ring only starts in the late 1940s. According to JR Thorpe of Bustle.com, the first diamond ring wasn't even a classic solitaire, but instead was, " a gift from Archduke Maximilian of Austria to the noblewoman he was courting, 20-year-old Mary of Burgundy. Harry Winston went on to state that the ring appeared to be , "a delicate band adorned with diamonds in the shape of her first initial". This may seem like a modern twist on a classic idea, but in fact this is where it all began.
The first question on everyone's mind when they hear that someone's been proposed to is usually in regards to the ring- but not far behind is the curiosity about exactly how the proposal went down. We are so lucky to work with a large variety of clients who all propose in ways unique to them, and in celebration of just how creative some got- we've put together a blog of our top 10 all time favorites!
We are most notable for our custom created micropave engagement rings featuring rows and rows of micropave set diamonds in intricate delicate designs. While these rings feature tons of details, there is truly something to be said of a classic three stone engagement ring. Three stone diamond engagement rings are a timeless classic look that simply never gets old and never goes in and out of style. It is a timeless choice that you are sure to love for years to come and there are endless combinations of center-stone and side stone options to consider; you can also pave detailing along the band if you prefer to give it a modern touch. With this we present the much anticipated 'Eternal Collection' from Lauren B. These special engagement rings feature impressive center diamonds set in classic handmade platinum designs.
