All about Sapphires
Diamonds command the most attention when it comes to engagement jewelry, and rightfully so as traditionally, they embody the rarity and beauty of the bond they're representing. However, as time goes on and generations introduce modern twists and turns to engagement jewelry, you'll notice that colored stones have also begun to make quite the reputation. Most immediately think of a deep blue stone when they think sapphire, which is only appropriate considering the name was derived from the Latin word 'saphirus' which means blue. However, sapphires com in variety of colors and can even have bicolor qualities to them (for those who can't decide!) In this post we will introduce you to this beautiful and special precious gem LIVE EPISODE #11 Over the Top Part I: Non-Halo/Solitaire Rings
Thanks again for taking the time to read our blog and watch another Lauren B Live Episode which will again focus on custom engagement ring design. On the previous one (which can be watched at your leisure on our Youtube playlist) we went into full detail on the many different styles of bands that can be used for your engagement ring. Equally important is the top portion of your ring- the part closest to the center stone – and this combined with your band is going to dictate the overall style and look of your finished ring. At Lauren B we specialize in custom design from A to Z, meaning you can mix and match any band and top from all rings in our collection to come up with your ideal design. Attention all lovers of Non- halo rings! On today’s post, we are going to explore all the different non-halo options you have for the top of your engagement ring and break them down into different categories so you can really see the differences for yourself. For our purposes, we are going to refer to these as any rings that do not have a halo/perimeter of pave diamonds going around the top surface center-stone. While at first you might think, this is simple and there is only a couple of styles to choose from, if you browse our website or Instagram you will see there are many details you can incorporate here. To watch the YouTube video click here and read along below Continue reading

Picking the Band of Your Engagement Ring
The band of your engagement is one of the most important features to your ring since it is the backdrop of your center gem and it is the part of your ring that hugs your finger. Picking the right band is not only based on the feeling it gives to your hand; it is more about the overall look you want your ring to have and the design you are after. It is also important to take into consideration the size and shape of your center-stone as well how you would like the top portion of the ring to appear e.g halo vs non-halo. For instance, elongated center-stones may work better with split bands, while a smaller center-stone with no halo might get lost on a thicker three row pave band. On the same note, the style of your band will relate to the general feel you are after; for example, if you want a more floating look opt for our delicate pave bands and for someone in the mood for a flashier look a three row band would be the way to go. If you thought there were a lot of options for center-stone shapes then your head might spin with all the different engagement ring band options we offer at Lauren B. These different aspects will have an effect on what will look aesthetically pleasing with the overall engagement ring. Each person will want something different so we think breaking down each band option here will give you some more insight! Continue reading

Mixing and Matching Wedding bands
On last weeks post we went over some engagement ring color options that are available and the differences between them. When it comes to picking your engagement ring one of the most important factors is selecting the color metal you like best. You would do this by picking the metal color you think works best against your skin tone taking into consideration your skin undertones. We also recommend looking at the jewelry you may currently wear and if there is one color in particular that you love then definitely opt for that color for you ring. Continue reading

Pedal to the Metal
Today we are going to talk about metal color for your engagement ring and more specifically adding touches of color such as yellow or rose gold. While the overall design/structure of the ring and its center-stone shape are of foremost importance, the metal type and color is just as crucial and will depict the whole look of your ring. However, more and more people are after something unique and what better way to achieve than having an engagement ring with either yellow or rose gold in it? On this post , we are going to review all the different metal options and combinations out there and talk about some of our more popular engagement ring designs in more detail. Vice versa, if you saw a white gold design on our website that you are head over heels in love with, please note we can make that in either rose, yellow or two-tone gold for the center-stone of your choice. Let’s get started! Continue reading
