While not as popular as the classic single halo styles more commonly seen on our custom rings, the double halo can certainly jazz up the look and increase the sparkle factor of any center diamond. These designs feature two rows of diamonds around the main the center-stone. In most cases, these diamonds are set in a tiered formation where the row closest to the main stone is set slightly higher than the row on the outer edge. By doing so you create a clear distinction between each one and allow each row to sparkle freely without looking like one cluttered disc of diamonds. In many instances, both rows will feature colorless diamonds but you can always add a touch of color with pink or yellow diamonds to add some more flavor to your look. Continue reading

Adding an inscription to your engagement ring or wedding band adds a very special personal touch to your ring. It makes for an amazing surprise once the receiver sees the unique message you picked out for them. Engravings are usually done on the interior of the wedding band or engagement ring (see photo to the left) and are normally only visible to the wearer when the ring is removed. Continue reading
At Lauren B we are a big fan of split band style rings because of the special detail it adds to the ring. Split band styles can give a nice amount of finger coverage and create the illusion of a very polished, structured ring design. There are lots of ways to approach this design and each one comes with different details. Generally speaking, split band engagement ring designs work better with elongated stones and for people with longer fingers because it allows more room for the design to take shape. There are of course many varieties of split which give you the versatility to include with most any center diamond shape and overall engagement ring design. From wide splits to tight splits, halos and non-halos, the options are endless and we will try to break it down here with insight from our in house designer. Continue reading
The main photo shows round brilliant cut center diamonds all weighing 1.70 carats. From left to right, it is dropped into a solitaire pave setting, a round halo and finally a cushion halo engagement ring setting. You can certainly see the "halo effect" of increasing the apparent size of the center diamond when you go from the ring on the left to the other two on the right. What is even more interesting is how the cushion halo to the far right adds an even more dramatic appearance than the round halo in the middle. The cushion halo fills out the edges more thus adding more diamond surface area and an even bigger look. Just something to consider when deciding between these styles. Continue reading
We get asked this question often: What do you think of the three row pave bands vs the single row? Engagement ring band styles are important to decipher since it determines the look of your ring
The answer depends on a few things. The main idea is to get something that fits your personal style. It needs to compliment the size and shape of your center diamond. For those seeking some extra sparkle and flash, the triple row should be a strong consideration. Those who prefer the center-stone to be the main attraction should opt for the single delicate row. This will measure around 1.8mm in most cases. Three row bands are significantly more expensive than the single row designs. They require three times as many diamonds. Not to mention increased setting work and more metal to be incorporated into the design. Continue reading
One of the top requests from our clients in the past year has been rose gold diamond engagement rings. While the center shapes and ring designs constantly vary, it is clear that the rose gold trend is here to stay. Oval center diamonds atop delicate micropave or bezel set bands to round or cushion cut diamonds set into custom halos, we have seen a great demand for these pink metal engagement rings. The contrast created between the large colorless center-stone and the vibrant metal makes these engagement rings attractive to all prospective shoppers. Continue reading
These days, there are many more options in the fine details of engagement rings than there used to be. The most important, but sometimes overlooked part of the ring, the prongs, have a number of different styles. While a necessity for obvious reasons, most people tend to overlook them and in most cases aim to diminish their appearance as much as possible as to keep the main focus on the center diamond and not the metal that is holding it in place.
