Q: How did you find Lauren B?

Allie: I started following the Lauren B Instagram account and fell in love with the detailed setting designs, especially the ‘hidden halo’ and the pave cathedral settings. Early this year I was in New York City on a business trip and spontaneously decided to just stop in the store on my way to the airport. Showing up, suitcase in hand, without an appointment and only about 15 minutes to spare, the staff was kind enough to welcome me in and show me a few designs in person.

Q: What made you choose LB for your ring design/purchase?

Eric: I spoke with the Lauren B staff initially and then did some exhaustive research on my own to ensure I understood all options, looking at other jewelers both local and national. I eventually reconnected with Lauren B and started working with Kathryn, who is a GIA-certified expert [gemologist] and was able to fully understand what I was looking for in terms of both setting and center stone.

Q: Did you work remotely/in-store for your purchase?

Eric: Everything was done remotely, first with extensive discussion around ring design and stone selection, and then with videos being sent back and forth to review specific stones and custom setting details.

Q: What design did you choose for your ring, and why?

Allie: I had previously pointed out two different designs that I loved, RS-279 and SOR-16221. Ultimately, Eric and Kathryn developed a fully custom design that included elements of both. Specific details included the two-tone setting (white gold prongs and basket and yellow gold band), thin pave band, cathedral setting with pave wrap, and most importantly, the beautiful, high-quality cushion-cut center stone.

Q: Tell us about the proposal: where and when did it take place?

Allie: We had planned a trip to Portugal together in September where we were visiting several different cities and regions. On the third day of the trip we visited the picturesque Medieval town of Sintra and hiked up to the ruins of a Moorish castle high on a hilltop overlooking the entire valley.

On the hike back down, Eric noticed a private little scenic overlook with a pond and wildflowers. He suggested we take a rest, and dropped down on one knee to pop the question.

Eric then surprised me again with a celebratory dinner that evening in Porto, and we spent the remaining week and half of the trip celebrating the engagement.

Q: How do you feel about the process overall – good experience? Would/did you refer LB to others?

A: It was a good experience that lasted 4-5 months overall. We would definitely recommend Lauren B and especially Kathryn!
