On the left we have a 3 carat emerald cut diamond offset by matching trapezoid step cut side diamonds in a handmade three-stone design. This is compared with a similar three-stone design where all stones are encased in a delicate halo of pave diamonds; the center-stone there is 1.8 carats. You can easily see the 'halo effect' and how it can make a center-piece appear almost twice as large
